Gabberdashery at Standon Calling

What are you doing this weekend?

If you are heading to Standon Calling, make sure you make a beeline to the Gabberdashery shop, on the temporary 'high street', where you will find a delicious selection of Love From Hetty & Dave treats!

Gaberdashery is an exciting new project developed to showcase and sell pieces inspired by Gabby Young and her style. And her amazing style is definitely something to be talked about:

Up and coming artists, illustrators, fashion designers and craftspeople are contributing everything from handmade lace gloves to customized tea-cups; if its eclectic, artistic and 'Gabby' then Gaberdashery will be selling it!

And for a little of the personal touch, Gabby and Katie (stylist and partner in the Gabberdashery
project), have now got their very own Love From Hetty & Dave heart pins, which you'll see them wearing at future events...

So if you go, don't forget to watch Gabby Young & Other Animals. Beautiful, beautiful music, described as "if ani difranco had sex with jeff buckley in 1920 while on acid listening to ella fitzgerald...that would be the wonderful music of gabby young..."

Thimbles and Big Cats

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a bit of a penchant for leopard print...

And as I felt it was time to snazz up my blog and stuff, it seemed an injection of leopard print was what it needed. So, now you can see these beauties below, on the right hand side of my blog, to click on and take you to various lovely online destinations:

Now that they have been photographed and uploaded, I'm not entirely sure what to do with them. Some sort of social networking themed necklace for the internet enthusiast, perhaps?

If you like these hearts, you can order your very own here.
If you'd like it personalised, just send me a message.

Anyway, what with all this sewing and spending far too much time looking for 'lost' thimbles, I came across these delights today, for a squid each...

Vintage promotional thimbles. One is News of the World (obviously my favourite Sunday paper), sale exceeds 3.000.000 copies, it says around the other side. The other is Drink Lyons Green Label Tea in lovely bright turquoise.

Amazingness. I love them, and will probably have lost them both down the back of the sofa by the end of next week.

But for now, I have stuck them on the severed hand I blogged about a few weeks back, which is now being used as a pin cushion.

Severed hand pin cushions will be available to buy online soon, just as soon as I've picked up my sewing machine and made some more.

Sooo, I think that is all for now. Two blogs in as many days is a bit much for me!!

Have a super cool weekend.

Turning Japanese...

Wowzers. Last night, I finally finished stitching this season's Japanese order.

Here's a peek of what my hands have been busy doing over the last few weeks...

Many, many sheriff badges.

I will be a very happy lady, if I never have to stitch a sheriff badge EVER again!

Some heart shaped London Underground key rings, for those Japanese London lovers...

And for those who just love...

A mere fraction of the Soldiers I stitched...

And amongst many other goodies, which tomorrow will be Japan-bound, I am ready for some...

The Fox and the Hen

A few weeks ago, it was my dear friend Aurelia's hen do, and I was commissioned to make her some sort of gorgeous non-penis related hen night veil, minus the L-plates...

This is what I came up with...

And here is the lovely lady herself, subtly declaring her undying love for her fiance Fox Face, or Justyn as he's more commonly known...

What a beaut...

If you would like to commission some sort of alternative wedding/hen veil, or just something to rival the fascinator wearers at a summer wedding or Ascot, please contact me with your budget and any ideas at zoelarkins@googlemail.com
