Wedding Bells in Shoreditch

Last weekend, or was it the weekend before? Time is flying by and it's a teeny bit terrifying...

Anyway, the other weekend, the rather delightful Ross and Melody tied the knot in Shoreditch, and commissioned me to make some little treats for their most marvellous day!

Melody had nine beautiful bridesmaids, and needed a little something to add an extra snazz to their bouquets... so this is what I stitched:

And as a wedding gift to them, I made the toppers for their wedding cake....

That cake just looked amazing, and I managed to match up the metallic red leather on the skulls, perfectly with the metallic red heart on the cake!

The toppers also double up as brooches, as a lovely little reminder of their big day:

You can see more wedding commissions that I have made, in this photo album over on the Facebook page.

And while you're at it, check out the fabulous Mister Phill's blog, which feature the Cakenport wedding heart and the most beautiful Spanish wedding from last Summer.

So, if you are getting married, and would like something a little bit different to pop on top of your cake, to pin on your bridesmaids, or even an applique on a vintage suitcase to store your wedding dress in, after the event, don't hesitate to give me a shout to discuss further... anything is possible!

Turning Japanese...

Wowzers. Last night, I finally finished stitching this season's Japanese order.

Here's a peek of what my hands have been busy doing over the last few weeks...

Many, many sheriff badges.

I will be a very happy lady, if I never have to stitch a sheriff badge EVER again!

Some heart shaped London Underground key rings, for those Japanese London lovers...

And for those who just love...

A mere fraction of the Soldiers I stitched...

And amongst many other goodies, which tomorrow will be Japan-bound, I am ready for some...

Bits and Bobs and Bunnies

I was too busy to blog last week (la-di-da!), so here's some nice bits and bobs to feast your eyes on.

Here's a lovely way to wear a pair of brooches and jazz up some boring pumps...

I discovered the ace work of She Draws. I almost did a little bit of wee when I saw this...

So I snapped that up, obv, and teamed it up with this ace little mohair cape I picked up for a mere £4.99 at the new Salvation Army shop that's opened up the road:

And this is what I'll be wearing on my fingers, when I wear my cape...

That's right, mouse rings. Makes typing a whole lot more entertaining. Add a real life cat, and you're done for! These are new, and you can buy them here.

Oh and I mustn't forget this hilarious commission I made for a lovely lady called Sophie, who serves up cricket teas at the weekends...

This is how Captain Fishcake looked in his younger days, when he was a keen cricketer.

I must add, yesterday was my last day trading at Spitalfields Market. So I'd like to thank all the lovely customers who came and bought from me there, and all the wonderful people I worked alongside, but after a good few years, it felt like it was time to break free.

I'm certainly gonna miss these two ladies, who bought practically every colour way possible of the swallow headbands!

So here goes another busy, busy week.

Fresh Sushi are the Fishes Fins

Last Summer, whilst roaming around a field at Bestival, and trying to decide what to eat, I met a lovely lady called Laura. We got chatting about the mexican skull brooch on my bag, and about the gorge Fresh Sushi yurt she was working at...

Anyway, almost a year has passed, and some strange sushi brooches were created, and I wasn't entirely sure whether these brooches worked. Then Miss Laura got in touch, and I had a bonkers brainwave. This was the girl to rock the sushi accessories!

So, a lovely platter of sushi has been stitched and stuffed, and sent all the way to Edinburgh...

And as she's such a groovy, lovely lady, I popped in a couple of Sushi surprises...

A fishy necklace:

And a super seafood-y head piece:

And today, Laura emailed to let me know they'd arrived. I'd been dying to post the photos on the blog all week, but didn't want to ruin her sushi surprise!

And here's the Queen of Sushi herself, rocking the fishy look:

Sooooo, this year, if you are going to any of the Festivals below, go and check out Fresh Sushi, feast on their yummy delights, and see all the staff wearing their Love From Hetty & Dave brooches...
